The first eclipse of the new decade could be seen earlier this week in central Africa, over the Indian Ocean and finally in China. This solar eclipse was annular, meaning the moon is farther from Earth and does not fully cover the sun.
An eclipse expert says the maximum eclipse time was 11 minutes 7 seconds, making this week’s annular eclipse the longest of the millennium.
