Hawk Snatches Toy

While Danny McGorry played with his favorite new Christmas present, something unexpected occurred. In his backyard, a Red Tailed Hawk swooped down and grabbed Danny’s WowWee FlyTech Dragonfly out of the air.

Astonished, Danny grabbed his parents and followed the bird as it landed in a neighbor’s tree. Despite their best efforts, the Red Tailed Hawk wouldn’t let go. The Hawk eventually ripped the toy apart and tossed it to the ground.

Danny wasn’t the first toy owner this has happened to. The Dragonfly is the first radio-controlled flying insect, and apparently it is too lifelike. WowWee’s customer service department has received more than 45 calls concerning birds snatching the toy out of the air.

Danny is a fifth-grader at Shelter Rock Elementary in Manhasset, N.Y.
