Visitors to the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens are curious about a trio of green-dyed polar bears.
Normally white, the three polar bears turned green in July after swimming in a pond covered in algae. Hot July and August temperatures caused the algae growth. Zoo workers are also changing water less often as part of a conservation effort.
Concerned visitors have questioned if the polar bears are sick or carrying mold. The bears should return to their normal white color when the algae dissipate in November.
what next? purple pigs or how about pink werewolves
