Sea Volcano Spits Acid

eruptionA deep-sea volcano in the Pacific Ocean’s Northern Mariana Islands has been erupting continuously, sending lava and acidic sulfur into the water. First observed in 2004, this is the first underwater volcano that scientists have discovered erupting.

The volcano is also growing. In a four-year period, it expanded 131 feet in height and 984 feet in width.
