THE NINTENDO SWITCH 2 IS OUT!
This new portable/tabletop/TV console game system goes where you go and gives you access to Nintendo’s unrivaled library of family-friendly games.
With a bigger, brighter, higher-resolution screen, Switch 2 offers better graphics and more. Its new chat feature lets players communicate and share chat-enabled games.
Switch 2 comes with a handful of hardware improvements and backward compatibility. It will play most of your original Switch games, and you can buy Switch 2 upgrades for specific games, enabling them to access all the hardware upgrades.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR PLAYSTATION AND XBOX?
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are turning 5 this year, which means a new generation of game systems is coming — maybe.
Thanks to Wi-Fi, the cloud and streaming, consoles (the dedicated game computer connected to your TV) might soon become a thing of the past. Why hook an extra box to your TV when you can use cloud-based services that stream games to your phone, tablet, TV or computer?
POKÉMON LEGENDS: Z-A
Nintendo and the Pokémon Company for Switch and Switch 2
The adorable but sometimes scary “pocket monsters” of the long-running Pokémon series are back with interesting twists. Set in Lumiose City, which looks suspiciously similar to Paris, France — Eiffel Tower and all — Pokémon Legends: Z-A features a new real-time fighting system. Instead of taking turns attacking each other, players and monsters strike simultaneously and then need to dodge counterattacks as their Pokémon recover.
NIKODERIKO: THE MAGICAL WORLD
Knights Peak for PS4, PS5, Switch, XBOX Series X|S, Steam, PC
Nikoderiko and Luna are treasure hunters marooned on an island brimming with loot and Cobrings, which are nasty snake-like creatures that don’t want their treasure looted. Think Mario versus Sonic meets pirates — but at a slightly slower speed.
CONSOLE WARS: THE CARD GAME
This game is not a videogame, but it’s about videogames. Creating a videogame empire isn’t always fun, but learning about it can be. Console Wars: The Card Game takes the variables that have shaped the industry — having the right exclusive games, launching a new console, etc. — and turns them into playing cards in a game that requires both strategy and luck.
