A man and his son from Muncie, Indiana, were saved from a house fire by their noisy parrot that likes to imitate sounds.
Shannon Conwell and his 9-year-old son fell asleep on the couch while watching a movie. They were awakened around 3 a.m. Friday morning to the screams of the family’s Amazon parrot, Peanut, imitating a fire alarm.
Because the parrot “was really screaming his head off,” the father, son and parrot were able to get out of the house in time.
Although the smoke alarm had activated, it was the bird’s call that caught Conwell’s attention.
