Look up your family’s military records

Take a look at your grandpa’s military draft card and see if his signature is similar to yours. Or read the description of your great-great grandfather’s Marine Corps unit.

Ancestry.com, an online genealogy site, has posted 90 million U.S. war records and is allowing anyone to search them for free until the anniversary of D-Day on June 6.

They also have a collection of newsreel videos from World War II, so you can watch coverage of the Battle of the Bulge or see the celebrations on the streets after the war ended.
