Eagle Gets Fake Beak

Three years ago, a poacher shot off the upper beak belonging to a bald eagle named “Beauty.” A team of volunteers attached a new, artificial beak last month to improve Beauty’s appearance and, more importantly, help her grasp food.

This beak is only temporary. It was attached to determine precise measurements. A beak made of tougher material will be created and attached later. Beauty will not be released back into the wild.
