Gusting winds off the coast of Great Britain will begin powering the world’s largest wind farm today. The 100 turbines, located off the coast of Kent in southern England, are capable of providing electricity to 200,000 homes each year.
Known as the Thanet Offshore Wind Farm, this collection of coastal turbines covers the equivalent of 4,000 football fields. The coast of England is an attractive location, because the winds are so strong.
