Not Extinct

Scientists have announced that three species of amphibian are alive and well, even though they’d been thought extinct for many years.

Mexico’s cave splayfoot salamander, Ivory Coast’s Mount Nimba reed frog, and the Omaniundu reed frog from the Democratic Republic of Congo are the species that have been rediscovered. The three species were found as part of a special project to “determine if 100 ‘lost’ amphibian species are really extinct.”
