Thief Repays Victim

A bat-wielding, would-be robber received a shock last summer when the convenience store owner he was attempting to rob pulled a shotgun from behind the counter. The failed criminal begged for mercy, then received an even greater shock when owner Mohammad Sohail gave him $40 and a loaf of bread. In exchange for the cash and food, Sohail made the intruder promise never to steal again.

This month, the same nameless robber sent Sohail a letter of apology and $50 for his kindness. The letter reports that the would-be thief now has a job, a new child and is “staying out of trouble.”
