Blowing up a tree stump, obliterating a watermelon or creating your own fireworks display are not your typical camp activities. But they’re totally normal at Summer Explosives Camp in Missouri.
The camp is designed to introduce participants to a program at the University of Missouri-Rolla engineering school that feeds industries like mining and demolition.
High School-age participants are taught explosives safety and how explosives are used in real life. They also get to blow lots of things up. Safely, of course.
