Scouts launch 965 model rockets

Scouts may have broken a world record on Saturday morning by simultaneously launching 965 model rockets into the air.

Pack 990 and Troop 990 from Austin, Tex., worked for six months to assemble 1,000 model rockets in a quest to beat the previous record of 399 set by a troop in Omaha, Neb.

Only 35 of them failed to launch into the air.

  1. My brother saw this and instantly began planning to break the record. Until he does, hats off to Pack and Troop 990!

  2. Thank you for posting this. I’m the Cubmaster for Pack 990. So many people deserve thanks for pulling this off. My hope is that we will inspire our Scouts to recognize the value of faith and hard work. Also, my thanks to Omaha Nebraska for the inspiration and for lighting the first fire.

To all those who want to try to top this…let’s go!
