J.R. Bouterse had lost his own wallet only weeks before when he came across a billfold with $800 inside. He knew what the unfortunate owner was going through.
The 11-year old from Dorr, Mich., immediately turned over the wallet and money to an adult, who in turn gave it to law-enforcement officials. It was quickly returned to its rightful owner.
As a reward, the Michigan State Police threw a pizza party for J.R. and the rest of Troop 90. The owner of the wallet made an appearance at the party to personally thank J.R.
His own wallet, which contained $45, has not been returned.
