A scale model of a plane meant to fly through concrete channels (just like a train going down a track) made an appearance at the International Conference on Robotics and Automation this month. This plane-train “uses the fast-moving air beneath it for propulsion.” Japanese researchers are working on the project, which could lead to an “aero” commuter train in the future.
