Pirahna-like fish caught

Kyle Owens, a 10-year-old from Ohio, went fishing for catfish this past weekend but caught something he was not expecting.

Thinking he caught a 10-pound catfish, he quickly realized it was no catfish when he noticed it had teeth. Actually, two rows of teeth, top and bottom.

“I didn’t know what the heck it was,” said Owen. His neighbors were at a loss as well.

An employee from a local exotic fish store told Owens that he had probably caught a cousin of the piranha called a Pacu, a native to the Amazon. Officials with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources believe someone likely dumped the fish when it got too big.

Wherever the fish came from, Owens said he has big plans for his big catch. “We’re going to stuff it,” he said.

  1. One time, I caught a giant dinosaur-like thing in Scotland. I named it Nessie! Just kidding. I don’t fish much, so I don’t know the name of the largest thing I caught. It was in a lake, though.

  2. largest fish I’ve caught was a eleven and a half inch large mouth bass at my grandparent’s cabin. I like fishing! 🙂

  3. I caught a baby catfish in a minnow trap once. It was almost 5 feet long!! 😮

Jkg – it was only about 2inches, that is the biggest fish I have ever caught! 🙂
