How to Watch the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team in the World Cup

The U.S. woman’s national team remained victorious after taking on Chile with a 3-0, U.S. win. Then, the U.S. beat Sweden in a 2-0, U.S. win!

Next, the team took on Spain in their first knockout round. They won in a 2-0 victory. Later that week, the U.S. beat France, 2-1.

Tuesday, July 2, the U.S. beat England, 2-1, in the Semi-final. They’ll head to the final round this Sunday, July 7.

USWNT Smashes Records in First Match

With one game down (and dominated!), the reigning World Cup champs are ready to take on Chile!

BTW, the first game was a record breaker. According to CBS, the U.S. women’s team achieved the following:

  • Most goals scored by a team in a World Cup match
  • Largest margin of victory in a World Cup match
  • Tie: Most goals scored by a player in a World Cup match
  • Most individual goal scorers in a single Women’s World Cup match

Team USA Schedule (all times Eastern)

Group play:

June 11, 3 p.m.: U.S. vs. Thailand — U.S. Victory
June 16, noon: U.S. vs. Chile — U.S. Victory
June 20, 3 p.m.: U.S. vs. Sweden — U.S. Victory

Knockout round: If the U.S. survives group play, its next match will be June 23, 24 or 25.

Qualifying: During the past three years, 144 teams have been trying to qualify for the World Cup. Only the top 24 countries made it to France.

Format: The 24 teams have been divided into six groups. Each country will play the other three countries in its group one time. The top two teams from each group and the four best third-place teams advance to the round of 16. From there, it’s a single-elimination bracket to determine the champion.

History: The U.S. has the most World Cup titles, with three (1991, 1999 and 2015). Germany is second with two.
