A British reader returned a book overdue 45 years to the library this week. The book, “Quatermass and the Pit” by Nigel Kneale, was originally due back on Oct. 15, 1965.
Staff members at the Dinnington Library near northern England’s Sheffield received no letter or note with the book. The library is willing to wave the overdue fees in order to get the story behind the egregiously overdue book.
the worlds most overdue book was 125 years overdue
There’s a book George Washington borrowed from a library in 1795; it was never returned. The library wants it back, or George will have to fax some money from heaven!
not as old as the last one they showed on this website
Imagine the overdue fee!

Someone must have lost it and then found it and returned it to the library.
