Warplane’s emergency landing

A World War II-era plane made an emergency landing Sunday night on U.S. Highway 41 near Wisconsin’s Fond du Lac County airport.

The pilot and his son were flying in a 1946 North American T-6G plane to the EAA AirVenture air show in Oshkosh when engine problems forced them to land on the highway.

Traffic in both directions was forced to stop as authorities worked to move the plane from the highway.

The pilot and son were uninjured, but the plane suffered damage after it hit several highway signs.
