Muskogee, Okla., elected a new mayor on Tuesday, but it wasn’t an aged political figure. Rather, 19-year-old John Tyler Hammons won 70 percent of votes in the city of about 38,000.
Hammons is a freshman at Oklahoma University. He will continue with his education, but he may transfer to a school closer to Muskogee after he is sworn in next week.
In my opinion no one should go to college AND be a mayor at the same time
i think i agree with you, unnamed.
me too
I came here to show to my son on what he can do. People like above leave comments that are unnecessary to leave at a scout page. It’s great to see this generation going into politics at a young age. The fact he is still in college and trying to make a difference for our country. Shows a lot of merit on this young man’s character! Also this young man is showing all young men and boys you can do anything once you put your mind to it!
i think its kind of cool that people respect him enough to vote a 19 year old to be the mayor of their town.
I can’t believe that he could win so convincingly while being so young. If I’m an older politician in that city I would be kicking myself.
