Conjoined twin barn swallows have been found in Arkansas. In an extremely rare occurrence, the birds are connected at the hip by skin and muscle tissue.
A landowner in White County discovered the birds. They fell from a nest when their healthy sibling flew away to hunt with their parents. The two birds have been sent to the Smithsonian Institute for examination.
