A monstrous fireball was spotted colliding with Jupiter last week. Australian Anthony Wesley, an amateur astronomer, watched and videoed the crash occur at 4:31 p.m. Eastern on June 3.
Wesley also spotted an impact on Jupiter last July 19. The object, which scientists believe was an asteroid, left a bruise the size of the Pacific Ocean. This year’s object has left no visible scarring in Jupiter’s clouds.
