Some African frog species have an unusual line of defense — they sprout claws to fend off attackers.
At least 11 different types of frog have this ability. These frogs have sharp bones in their toes. When the frog feels threatened, the bones puncture the skin and the frogs use them as claws.
Cameroonian hunters have long known about these claw-springing frogs. Locals use long spears or machetes to avoid touching these strange amphibians.
