Coastal Cleanup

This Saturday, the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup will provide an opportunity to make a difference and be part of a global movement. Last year, 378,000 volunteers in 76 countries removed six million pounds of trash from coastlines and waterways.

This Saturday, Sept. 20, is the 2008 cleanup. Many volunteers are youth participating with their families and schools. Register and participate in a cleanup near you.

  1. That would be a fun thing to do, but unfortunately, I live in middle of North America, and are no where near a beach! 🙁 😥 😥 😥 🙁

you don’t have to live by a beach to help, cleaning rivers is also important I used to do that before my family moved (I actually live close to a beach now)

  3. me and a fellow scout do this every year. This year, we collected 25lbs of trash in a 1/2 mile stretch of beach in Ponce Inlet, Florida. It is really nasty to see what people just leave behind (like dirty diapers, gross!!) A lot of bottle caps and fishing line, too.
