Today, Space Adventures, Ltd., the world’s leading space experiences company, announced that for the first time the opportunity to train as a private space explorer will be open to the public.
Richard Garriott, the son of a former NASA astronaut, is currently planning a mission to the International Space Station in October 2008. He will begin spaceflight preparations after the first of the year, and his team is looking for a back-up crewmember to train with them — for a price.
You, too, can join in Garriott’s training for only $3 million dollars. The back-up crewmember will be certified as a fully trained cosmonaut, and the price of training will be credited toward a future orbital or lunar spaceflight mission.
