Seventy years after completing the requirements to become an Eagle Scout, Walter Hart finally received the Eagle Scout award on Saturday.
The 88-year-old man from Lehigh Acres, Fla., finished the merit badges and other requirements to earn Scouting’s highest honor back in the 1940s, but he joined the Navy to fight in World War II before he could be awarded Eagle Scout.
Last year, he found the paperwork showing that he had earned the badge and contacted Scout officials to see if he could still receive it. The Eagle Scout Award was presented to him on Saturday.
Woo. He completed the requirements in in the 40’s and didn’t get the reward untill now? I knew you stay an Eagle Scout after you leave scouting, but this is redicuoalus!
I wonder if he got really impatient.
The 40s geese, Is that a world record or what!!??
Hey you earn what you earn
cool đŸ™‚
the man that got the eagle badge must have been the oldest person to receive their eagle
Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. Thank you Walter for your service in Scouting, but more important, your service to our Country. Without you and thousands of other men and women who wore the military uniform, Scouting in this country would not be like it is today. From an old Marine to a young Sailor, Semper Fi.
When he was fighting, they sould have sent it to his house.70 years that is ridiclous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
007 you put the wrong name and i don’t think that is true at the record thing
he couldve died before he got to be an eagle.
Better look though those papers again – Might have gotten some Merit badges, too! đŸ™‚
