The American Kennel Club has announced that “Bear” and “Lady” are the most popular male and female dog names, respectively. Other popular names include “Belle,” “Princess,” “Mae,” “Blue,” “Max,” “Rose,” “Daisy” and “Duke.”
A Kennel Club spokesperson says names are traditionally derived from a dog’s appearance or personality, such as “Spot” or “Sassy.” Today, dog names are more likely to reflect a pet’s stature in the home, such as “King” or “Princess.” Human names are also popular, such as “Molly” or “Jack.”
