The MLB has approved a brand-new padded pitcher’s hat that is designed to protect players from head injuries caused by line drives.
The new hats don’t look — or feel— much different. They weight just five ounces more than the old hats, and are basically indistinguishable from the standard MLB cap. The new caps are voluntary, so pitchers won’t have to make the switch. But it sounds like a great idea to me.
In fact, the company behind the new caps, IsoBlox, makes padded hats for kids too. Learn more here.
“That is a good idea” So says my dad. 🙂 As for me, how are they going to wear them? I mean, what is the hat on the head model for. Do they wear that underneath the hat in the picture?
The hats in the photo are just samples. Each MLB hat will look like a normal team cap.
