Chevy Shows ‘Volt’ to World

Chevy’s new electric vehicle, Volt, will go on sale in 2010, but General Motors provided a full look at the new car on Tuesday.

The Volt plugs in and charges on regular electric outlets. It should cost about two cents for each mile driven on electricity. The Volt relies on a gas-powered engine to charge the car on journeys longer than 40 miles. It should cost 12 cents for each mile driven with the help of gas.

The top speed will be 100 miles per hour, and the Volt boasts 150 horsepower.
