The Bronx Zoo in New York is now home to five of the 25 most rare species of turtles in the world.
After Zoo experts worked tirelessly to recreate specific environmental and climate conditions for the turtles to breed, the zoo welcomed five extremely rare Chinese yellow-headed box turtles.
The hatching marks a significant population boost for the species, because there are only 150 believed to be left in the wild. The species of turtle once flourished in streams in parts of eastern China, but have been pushed to the brink of extinction by human consumption, use in traditional medicine, habitat loss and the pet trade
Here are a couple of photos of the cute baby turtles.
