Watch This Video Of the Incredible, Invisible Cockatoo Squid

The Ocean Exploration Trust’s Nautilus research ship recently captured cool footage of a cool squid. Want to take a look? Too bad, this squid’s invisible.

Not really, but it’s close. The cockatoo squid, or “glass squid,” was found in the deep waters of Juan de Fuca Canyon off the coast of British Columbia’s Salish Sea. It’s called “cockatoo” squid because its head crest looks a lot like a cockatoo’s.

According to Mental Floss:

The 60-plus known species of cockatoo squids, which are most commonly found in the North Pacific Ocean, all have color-changing chromatophores that allow them to glow a red hue or get spots.
