The United States Postal Service unveiled today a Scouting stamp that will go on sale next summer. The “Celebrate Scouting” stamp honors the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.
Craig Frazier of Mill Valley, Calif., designed the stamp. The stamp’s image shows a backpacking Scout and a large silhouette of another Scout surveying the landscape. It’s meant to depict “the spirit and outdoor adventure of Scouting.”
I don’t think this stamp commerates the BSA’s 100th. anniversary at all due to it not even saying “BSA” or “100 Anniversary”.
No, it is to regonize all that the boy scouts, girls scouts and any scouting group represents.
That’s cool every time I send a letter I will use that stamp if I can find it.
This is a really neat stamp. A friend of mine showed me the United States Postage stamp which commemorated the founding of the Boy Scouts of America in the United States Postal Service’s commemorative postage stamp issue series entitled, “Celebrate the Century” which celebrated major accomplishments of the twentieth century with the Boy Scouts of America being founded in the early twentieth century– 1910. The Celebrate the Century commemorative postage stamp series had over twenty postage stamps commemorating all different types of events– the founding of the Boy Scouts, the Moon Landing, the discovery of penicillin, and so forth. It’s a really neat commemorative postage stamp series.
I really don’t care for the stamp. I thought it would have more about the 100th anniversary, not just a really “generic” stamp. I’ll use it to promote scouting awareness, but I really am a little disappointed.
I wish they would come out with a stamp series with the rank badges on it.That would be real cool.
I really like this stamp it adds a very cool look to any stamp collection. I bought a scout stamp first day cover and digital postmark both worth the money.
I agree. I am an Eagle Scout and I don’t think this stamp commerates the BSA’s 100th anniversary at all due to it not even saying “BSA” or “100 Anniversary”. I don’t think this is an accident. This HAD to be a result of some kind of take-it-or-leave-it deal between the BSA and USPS.
