Prehistoric Penguin

Scientists have announced the discovery of a penguin that stood nearly as tall as a man and lived 36 million years ago. Researchers have uncovered wing and body feathers that prove the existence of this ancient bird. Called the “water king,” this penguin’s feathers appeared gray and red.

This discovery was made in Peru. By comparison, the largest penguin today, the emperor penguin, stands just less than 4 feet.
