A photo of a Cub Scout saluting his great-grandfather’s grave will be displayed at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C. this week.
Edmund DePinter, a pack leader in East Northport, N.Y., took the picture of his son at the Long Island National Cemetery where the Cub Scouts were planting flags for Memorial Day in 2006.
The photo won the grand prize in the “PhotoStamps of the Year” contest sponsored by Stamps.com. As winners, several members of the DePinter family will travel to Washington, D.C. to see their winning image on display at the museum beginning Aug. 8.
