On July 17, 1955, Disneyland opened for the first time. At a cost of $17 million to build, the park included five “lands” — Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Main Street USA — and 20 attractions. More than 28,000 visitors crowded the park on the special invitation-only first day. Disneyland opened to the general public the next day.
