New York Whales

Underwater microphones have uncovered a dense population of whales living in waters near New York City. These microphones heard songs from fin, blue, humpback, minke, sei and right whales, four of which are on the U.S. endangered species list. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology announced the findings this week.

Some of the whales recorded came within 10 miles of the city. Click the video player below to listen to the sound of whales.
