This sea turtle is one world traveler.
A native of the Gulf of Mexico, he somehow got confused and accidentally swam across the Atlantic Ocean and into the North Sea near the Netherlands, where the water is way too cold for him to survive.
Thankfully, the turtle was rescued, then transported to Portugal where marine biologists nursed him back to health.
When he regained enough strength, the turtle, named Johnny Vasco de Gama, was flown on a commercial airplane to Florida, where he will complete his recovery in a tank before being released back into the Gulf.
Hopefully this time he’ll stay closer to home.
Neat
I hope he doesn’t wander off again.
How in the world did he do that?!
poor turtle good thing that they get him home:)
How did he do that? Wouldn’t he have noticed the water getting cold? Strange…
so cool its amasing he survived
