Scientists have created an adhesive inspired by geckos. This “lizard” tape could be in stores in the next few years.
Geckos use “millions of microscopic hairs on their toes” to cling to walls and ceilings without leaving any residue. Research done by scientists at UC-Berkeley allowed an engineering professor at Stanford to design a tape prototype based on a gecko’s paws. Once finished, the engineer used the gecko tape to stick his 50-pound daughter to a window. The tape is also reusable.
