Help End Malaria

Scout Nate Stafford wanted to help the BSA celebrate 100 years. He ended up doing a lot more. In 2009, Stafford hiked 100 miles in nine days through North Carolina in honor of Scouting’s centennial and also to raise money and awareness for Nothing But Nets, an organization dedicated to eradicating malaria in Africa. This year, he has been named a Nothing But Nets Champion.

A child in Africa dies of malaria every 45 seconds. A life-saving mosquito net cost only $10. Nothing But Nets aims to supply nets and educate Africans about the need for protection. The goal: To reduce malaria deaths to zero percent by 2015.
