The alien species from E.T. makes a quick cameo during the Galactic Senate scene in The Phantom Menace.

Monkey Yoda?

Early in the process of making Star Wars, Yoda was nearly played by an actual monkey. Thanks to advancements of puppetry (seen in the photo above) we got the green frogish Yoda we all know and love.

That’s No Wookiee

It’s a (Tourist) Trap

Many of the original Tatooine sets from the 1970s are still standing in Tunisia.

What’s In a Name?

The word “Ewok” is never mentioned in a Star Wars movie.

Handmade Feel

The budget for A New Hope: $13 million. The budget for The Last Jedi: $250 million. That tiny budget is responsible for some of the most beloved parts of A New Hope, as practical effects (like the model in the photo above) were used over less believable special effects.

Starkiller, Luke Starkiller

Luke’s last name was originally “Starkiller” before being changed to “Skywalker.” The name pops up again in The Force Awakens as the codename for the First Order’s Death Star-like weapon.
